Heat stroke Prevention From HEAT/SUN In Summer

In summer days usually temperature goes above 45°C in Delhi NCR. Some times it may feel about 50°C. A healthy human body can survive up to 42.3°C (body temperature). Heat and direct sun light specially in summer season effects our body in two different ways. Prolonged exposure to direct sun light can effect our skin and heat can effects our organs and its function directly or indirectly. Excess sweating can lead to dehydration and dizziness, increasing body temperature can elevate heart rate and blood flow, rapid rate of respiration or breathing, epistaxis ( nose bleeding) etc.

There are various ways by which one can protect from Heat and Sun in summer specially in Delhi NCR.

  • Avoidance – Stay indoors as much as possible specially if there is red alert due to heat.
  • Use umbrella in summer while you walk in open in sunny day.
  • Wear white or light color clothes.
  • Apply SPF-50 sun screen cream to your skin before you go out.
  • Drink around 3 to 4 Liter of water.
  • Eat vitamin C and water rich fruits like watermelon, orange, papaya, lemon, mango, kiwi fruit, brocoli etc.
  • Protect our environment and plant more trees.
  • Always have a water bottle with you when you go out.
  • Try to cover your body as much as possible to protect your skin from direct sun light exposure.
  • Avoid fast food, street food and try to eat freshly home made food in summer season.
  • Consult near by doctors if you feel any kind of illness, diarrhea or vomiting.
  • Do not start heavy workout if you were not doing it regularly.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol ( specially Whisky and Rum) as it causes dehydration .
  • You may drink glucose and ORS ( Oral Rehydration Solution) in case you had excess sweating.
  • You may have a look into daily weather forecast by many website like accuweather , IMD
  • Always maintain you electric wires, switches etc as they are at high risk of burning in summer season.
  • Always have fire extinguisher in your home or office and learn how to use these for your own safety.
  • Try to park your cars in shade if it is not possible and you have to park in open in day time, just open a little bit of car windows so that internal heat can dissipate from there.
  • In case we don not open car windows, park it in open space under sunlight and there is an deodorant spray, sanitizer or any flammable thing inside the car, it may cause fire.
  • Do not drink cold water just after you come home or office from outside.
  • Many people drink cold water and ice creams in summer season and feels sensitivity and or pain in their teeth, they should consult the dentist immediately. there might be sensitivity issue for any reason like cavity or abrasion etc.
